Introduction to the U.S. Social Forum (USSF) & People’s Movement Assembly (PMA) on a Vision for a Better World

  • AACI 2400 Moorpark Ave., Room 210 San Jose, CA (map)

Human Agenda is an anchor organization for the U.S. Social Forum (USSF) to be held in San Jose the last weekend of June in 2015.  While the USSF poses that ANOTHER WORLD IS POSSIBLE and ANOTHER U.S. IS NECESSARY, Human Agenda is working nationally and locally to clarify the vision for that better world and United States, and what economic and political institutions might provide for a democratic, egalitarian, cooperative, sustainable and kind United States and San Jose.  The Executive Director of Human Agenda, Richard Hobbs, has been working on these issues for 30 years.
Working with other Bay Area organizations, Sunday, October 5 will provide participants in this kickoff PMA for the San Jose USSF with an opportunity to

  • Learn what the US Social Forum is, from its National Coordinator, Shamako Noble
  • Engage in discussing the characteristics of our existing economic, political, and social institutions
  • Identify the needs of the people and the planet
  • Hear the perspective of John de Graaf, author ofWhat’s the Economy For?, internationally known videographer (e.g. Affluenza), and national director of the Take Back Your Time movement
  • Engage in the CLEAR THE DECKS vision of Richard Hobbs and Human Agenda: a human needs based ecohumanist paradigm of what our needs are and how to meet them
  • Discuss and draw conclusions on what a better world and better organized society would look like, concretely
