Human Agenda Celebrates Hope

On December 7  Human Agenda invites the community to its First Annual Celebration of Hope: A Fiesta for a Better  Future at Casa Vicky’s.  Human  Agenda’s Community Impact Award will  be presented to Sacred Heart Executive Director Poncho Guevara for the  incomparable combination of service and advocacy of that organization on behalf  of low-income residents, while its Human  Rights Award will be presented to Sunnyvale Vice-mayor Jim Griffith for his  pathbreaking efforts to create a sustainable Sunnyvale.

Hot food, live  music, and a silent auction will punctuate this event honoring all community members who seek a  better world.  The accomplishments  of Human Agenda in 2013 will be mentioned during a short program and a special  birthday celebration will be held for board member Karen Lee Wald.

The event will  take place from 6 to 9 PM in the casita, the exquisite house to the right of  Casa Vicky’s, located at 792 E. Julian Street (17th & Julian) in San  Jose.

For the past 10  years Human Agenda has held a Hunger Banquet each December based on the model of  Oxfam America.  After sitting on the  floor for 10 years, eating the meager morsels that over 1 billion of the world’s  people eat, and providing conscious programming on world hunger, Human Agenda  has decided to move to a celebration of hope for a better future, strategically  emphasizing those positive things we are for that we can all work on together in  2014, including democracy, environmental sustainability, and meeting the human  needs of everyone through a sharing economy.

To RSVP, which is  necessary, or  for more information about the event contact Elizabeth Sarmiento at es.peace@gmail.com or  650-704-3462.
